     A selection of 28 Colombian cumbia bangers for the dancefloor from the deep vaults of Codiscos and its associated labels Costeño, Zeida and Famoso, all originally released between 1962 and 1983. “Cumbia Cumbia Cumbia!!!” brings together well-known classics and rarities that are hard to find in their original formats.
     An invitation to enjoy and marvel, beyond ethnographic and academic concerns. The historical origins of cumbia in Colombia are nebulous and imprecise. The mythology surrounding it points to an ancient past in which Indian, African and European musical sounds intermingled. The most important record labels in Colombia, such as Discos Fuentes, Discos Tropical, Sonolux, Zeida-Codiscos, Silver, Ondina, Discos Atlantic, Vergara and Curro, were established between 1936 and 1954 in Barranquilla, Medellín, Cartagena and Bogotá. Without exception, they all recorded Colombian tropical music, which was given different names over the years, such as Porro, Gaita, Fandango, Paseaito, Merecumbé, Mapalé, Bullerengue or, of course, Cumbia.
     After delving deep into the overwhelming archive of Discos Fuentes in our last volume, this second part of the series “Cumbia Cumbia Cumbia!!!” includes 28 Colombian cumbia bangers for the dancefloor from the deep vaults of Codiscos and its associated labels Costeño, Zeida and Famoso, all originally released between 1962 and 1983. Zeida (later Codiscos) was founded on July 1, 1950 and was one of the companies that made Medellín the epicenter of the Colombian record industry in the middle decade of the last century.
