Early OJC release features the earliest recordings by Sonny Rollins, including 8 with his Quartet, 4 with MJQ; and 1 with Miles Davis's group. MJQ sides were recorded in 1953, and originally released as a 7" EP, and a 10" EP. The quartet sides with Kenny Drew, Percy Heath, & Art Blakey, were recorded in 1951, while the remaining track (I Know) was recorded during Miles Davis's first Prestige session, and features Miles on piano! with Percy Heath & Roy Haynes.
