Millie Jackson
Get it Out'cha System
Southbound / Ace SEW 174 - import re-issue from the UK
Released in 1978, “Get It Out’cha System” was the follow-up to “Feelin’ Bitchy” which went gold in 1977 and spawned two hit singles.
Although songs like the title track and ‘Put Something Down On It’ dropped anchor in up tempo almost disco territory, the first single taken from “Get It Out’cha System” was Jackson’s beautiful take on the Kenny Rogers ballad ‘Sweet Music Man’ which reached #33 in the US soul singles chart. Other tracks on the album covered familiar Jackson territory from the tender ‘He Just Wants To Hear The Words’ to ‘Logs And Thangs’ where Jackson warned her man that if he did not light her fire then she’d put another log in her fireplace! This was the Millie Jackson her fans loved.
“Get It Out’cha System” went gold upon release and peaked at #14 on the Billboard Soul album chart. Jackson went out on the road with the album which also helped maintain sales for the rest of the year.
Out of print since 1978, Ace are delighted to put it back into the system again complete with liner notes from our own Ian Shirley.
