James Reese & the Progressions - Let's Go (It's Summertime) / Jody's Freeze
James Reese & the Progressions | Label: Namja 945 | Format: 45 | Genre: Soul/Funk/R&B
Condition: Very Good Plus
James Reese and The Progressions ultra rare "Let's Go (It's Summertime)" b/w "Jody's Freeze" - Najma Records 45rpm #945. Excellent condition, great shine, labels are clean. Super rare northern soul instrumental from this funky trombone kid that did some time with Bohannon, and toured with Motown stars, was re-issued by Jazzman records in the UK based on it's floor filler status. Summertime sounds a bit like the verses to "The World is a Ghetto" with the easygoing groove, whereas “Jody’s Freeze” is far from frozen. "It’s a perky, jazzy, floor shuffling concoction of pungent horns, howling Hammond and a spit fire paradise of percussion. The tempo’s temperature increases till your arms, knees and legs are completely thawed out from jerking, flipping, and flopping."
