The Cream
Wheels of Fire
Polydor 535484 - re-issue 2 LP set on 180g vinyl with a gatefold jacket
Wheels of Fire is a 1968 double album by the British rock band, Cream, consisting of a studio & a live record. It reached No. 3 in the United Kingdom & No. 1 in the United States, becoming the first platinum-selling double album! Wheels Of Fire is now pressed on 180 gram, heavyweight audiophile vinyl & has exact reproductions of original artwork to retain authenticity. The dichotomy of The Cream is laid out for all to see on this album, with studio tracks showing off their use of the studio on their 3 minute pop songs, while disc 2 is their jam band side, where they take a song and stretch it out to 15 minutes. The Pop fans didn't necessarily enjoy the musicianship of the jamming, and the jam fans didn't necessarily appreciate the pop craft. That being said, the best of both worlds are here; if you're looking for blues covers, or if you're looking for studio magic, or if you're trying to figure out Ginger Baker's kit (Toad is a 16 minute mostly drum solo), or if you're searching for Clapton shredding, this is a good place to start.
