Betty Madigan was a popular night club performer in the mid-50s. She made a handful of
records for MGM, Coral, and other labels. She was also an actress, and made numerous
TV and stage appearances, also in the mid-50s. Dick Jacobs was a bandleader, who also did A&R for Coral, Brunswick, and Springboard, and as such, was a key
TV and stage appearances, also in the mid-50s. Dick Jacobs was a bandleader, who also did A&R for Coral, Brunswick, and Springboard, and as such, was a key
instigator in the careers of Buddy Holly, Jackie Wilson, and Bobby Darin, among many others.
His bandleader / arranger style is generally lush and romantic. This is a 4 song EP on
Repertory Records #AD-18. I know nothing of this label,
and can find no info on the internet about this EP. It does have the SESAC
logo on it, and also states SESAC Transcribed Library, so it's possible it
was part of the behemoth SESAC publishing empire. Regardless, it appears to be quite
rare, and it is also quite good in that style of popular singing style.
Comments from Orbit Records: Both sides look and play VG+ with some noise. the hard cardboard sleeve is VG+. There is a slight spine breach on the upper opening, and a 1 1/2" tear at the lower opening, as well as some age yellowing, and standard shelf wear (see pics).
