I Just Can't Help Myself is Callier's third for Cadet, and forth overall. Originally released in 1973, it was produced and arranged by Charles Stepney with some assistance from Richard Evans. Heard in various combinations with a plethora of musicians are Louis Satterfield, Cleveland Eaton, Charles Stepney, Phil Upchurch, and others. Stepney & Evans move Callier further from his folk roots into a smooth soul singer. And what a voice (and a fine guitar player, too!)
