Miles Davis
Volume 2
Blue Note Records 1502 - re-issue LP - 180g as part of Blue Note's Classic Vinyl Series

Miles' early Blue Note sessions from 1952-54 yielded two later LPs that Blue Note released as part of the 1500 Series. Volume 2 is split between the blazing bebop and beautiful ballads that first made Miles famous: "Well You Needn't," "Lazy Susan," "The Leap," "It Never Entered My Mind," "Donna," alternate takes of "Ray's Idea" and "Tempus Fugit" and more. The recording was made at a point in Davis' life when he was struggling with heroin addiction, and in his autobiography Davis remembers that he, Jimmy Heath, and Art Blakey were all very high in the studio. Davis also states that the song title "C.T.A." was named after Heath's girlfriend Connie Theresa Ann. The twelve inch LP was originally released in 1956 (following Miles Davis Volume 1 after Davis won the Down Beat readers poll as best trumpeter. This mono Blue Note Classic Vinyl edition is all-analog mastered from the original tapes and pressed on 180-gram vinyl! Blue Note.
