Piece of Mind
Parlophone - re-issue LP in a thick gatefold jacket
Iron Maiden steamrolled the momentum from ‘The Number of the Beast’ and dished out their fourth album, ‘Piece of Mind,’ one year later in 1983. Of course, “The Trooper” rightfully garners most of the attention overshadowing the record’s other single, the Steve Harris-hated “Flight of Icarus.” Nicko McBrain replaced Clive Burr, kicking down the doors of his grand entrance with an athletic performance on opener “Where Eagles Dare.” Next came “Revelations” which featured Dickinson on acoustic guitar during live performances, volleying between breakneck moments and midtempo spots to let the singer’s voice emote the song’s vivid lyrics. “Die With Your Boots On” and “Still Life” mark two additions to the setlist on the tour, though they have never performed the closing epic “To Tame a Land” live.
