BLUEBIRD contains some of Bird’s most outstanding studio recordings, all of them featuring his wonderful quintet with the great Miles Davis on trumpet and originally issued on the Savoy and Verve labels. Included are some of Parker's finest performances, among them his last quintet session with Miles Davis, on which they played the first four tracks on side A. Miles would call Bird to participate on one Prestige date in 1954, and our 2 BONUS TRACKS (also featuring Sonny Rollins) come from that session, which finds Parker playing the tenor sax. Also noteworthy are the classic Savoy sides "Barbados", "Constellation", and the title tune, among many others.
