Originally slated to be released as Warner Brothers 25677 in Dec of 1987, Prince decided at the last minute to pull the release, reportedly having a change of heart due to the dark, sexy nature of the lyrics, and his new-found religious convictions. The replacement release was Lovesexy, which is much lighter in tone, and pop oriented rather than deep funk.
