Lou Johnson - Sweet Southern Soul - LIMITED Edition!
Lou Johnson's Sweet Southern Soul becomes Run Out Groove's tenth reissue title. The Brooklyn soul singer recorded this little slice of soul heaven for Atlantic Records' Cotillion subsidiary in 1969 and it has gone on to become a heavily sought after title for crate diggers and genre fanatics. It was produced by Jerry Wexler and
Tom Dowd at Muscle Shoals Studios. With Lou doing songs by Curtis Mayfield, Eddie Hinton and Don Covay, and the legendary Muscle Shoals crack backing band providing support, it has all the elements of a classic Atlantic soul album of the era.
