Loco-Motion
Discovered by the songwriting duo Goffin and King, 19 year-old "Little" Eve Boyd was asked to record a demo of "The Loco-Motion", originally intended for singer Dee Dee Sharp. She performed it so well that her version was released instead - and shot up the charts like a train, all the way to number one. Though a few follow-up singles were released, she soon faded into obscurity - unlike her hit, which remains embedded in collective memory especially since Kylie Minogue's later cover.
