Reissue for this classic album from '67 originally released on an Orange Impulse. Considered to be the last Coltrane's lifetime release it includes the all-time classic "Welcome", as defined by Coltrane himself “the song is that feeling you have when you finally do reach an awareness, an understanding which you have earned through struggle. It is a feeling of peace. A welcome feeling of peace."

Slight variation on track listing, "Welcome" is moved to Side A , while "Vigil" is the first track on Side B, and is now accompanied by a bonus track "Selflessness" taken from the release "Selflessness Featuring My Favorite Things" , which was recorded in the same session as "Kulu Se Mama". Joining Coltrane on the title track are the musicians McCoy Tyner, Pharoah Sanders, Jimmy Garrison, Donald Garrett, Elvin Jones, Frank Butler, and Juno Lewis. The other 3 tracks are Trane's quartet of Tyner, Garrison & Elvin.
