(Cat's Clause)
Radiation RRS107
One of the most venerated of all Los Angeles hardcore punk bands, The Germs centered on vocalist Darby Crash and guitarist Pat Smear, with bassist Lorna Doom, another mainstay, and various drummers passing through before Don Belles became permanent. Spearheading the LA hardcore scene with an explosive performance at The Whisky in 1977, the group issue sparse singles and debut album (GI), before Crash overdosed on heroin in Dec 1980. Smear's early 90's arrival in Nirvana sparked the Germs revival that yielded (Cats Clause), a rarities collection previously released on various formats but never on the classic 12" one, which includes live material from the Hong Kong Cafe, The Starwood, The Great Gasby, the Fleetwood, along with 4 bonus tracks from the infamous "Canterbury Rehearsal", all packed in a luxurious package.
