Complete Communion
Blue Note 4226
Complete Communion was Don Cherry's debut album as a leader and his first for Blue Note Records, originally released in 1966. Each side of the original LP were suites, side-long compositions working with several themes. Critics have proposed this recording as an important innovation in the free jazz of the time, introducing "an alternative both to athematic improvising and to monothematic pieces". Joining Cherry are Leandro "Gato" Barbieri, Henry Grimes, & Edward Blackwell.
This is an odd pressing in that the catalogue number as printed is 4226, which denotes MONO (Stereo would start with an 8), yet, on the back, it is clearly printed with STEREO on the upper L corner. So...we're not quite certain what you'll get besides great music. ('66? probably stereo) There is NO UPC code.
