Junior Wells
Southside Blues Jam deluxe
Delmark Records 628
This studio album captures what a listener would hear any Monday night at Theresa's Blues Bar (now defunct) at 48th & Indiana on Chicago's south side. The Blue Monday regulars, including Buddy Guy are joined by the late Otis Spann, the greatest blues pianist of his generation making his last studio appearance and to whom this album is respectfully dedicated by Junior, the musicians and the Delmark staff. A 16 page booklet with a new 2014 note by producer Bob Koester and many never-before-seen photos is enclosed. Recorded in late 1969 and early 1970, other musicians appearing include Louis Meyers, Earnest Johnson, & Fred Below.
