HIDROS 3 was written for Sonic Youth by Mats Gustafsson in connection w/ KulturBro 2000. The piece was premiered on 10/9/00 at the Ystad Konstmuseum in south of Sweden. Together, Gustafsson & Sonic Youth teamed up w/ guitar legend Loren Connors, Lotta Melin, David Stackenas & Lindha Kallerdahl. Armed w/ 5 guitars, electronics, voices, audiobox & contrabass saxophone, the group created a massive & monumental sound. The characteristic "spoken" vocals from Kim Gordon & the moody, atmospheric & dissonant sound makes you think of the NYC in the early 80`s & the 1st albums by Sonic Youth. Band is made up of Kim Gordon, Lindha Kallerdahl, Gustafsson, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Loren Connors, Steve Shelley, David Stackenas, Lotta Melin & Jim O'Rourke doing the live mix.
