With all this talk of the 50th anniversary of the Beatles Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, we couldn't help thinking about the record that might have been; Smile, which was also to have come out in 1967. That got us to thinking about how that much-booted almost-record has influenced tons of music in its wake. So many musicians have immersed themselves in Brian Wilson's masterpiece, and have created tunes in the cut-and-paste style, that we have to think of it as a touchstone even today. Any suggestions of things to add?
