a collective improvisation

The album features a double quartet who play simultaneously - one in each stereo channel. The quartets feature Don Cherry, Scott LaFarro and
Billy Higgins in the Left channel, and Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Haden, and Ed Blackwell in the Right channel. The album was recorded by Tom Dowd in 1961 and produced by Nesuhi Ertegun. The unique cover art features a die-cut front jacket with the painting "The White Light" by
Jackson Pollock.

Part of DOL's anniversary 20/20 collection on 180g colored vinyl. Pressing with exclusive gatefold jacket with larger die-cut front than the original Atlantic release. ESSENTIAL!!

The album was one of the first to feature a 2 sided suite. This is;
Free Jazz parts one and two.
