Blacula
is a 1972 American blaxploitation horror film directed by William Crain. The movie stars William Marshall in the title role about an 18th-century African prince named Mamuwalde, who is turned into a vampire (and later locked in a coffin) by Count Dracula in the Count's castle in Transylvania after Dracula refused to help
 Mamuwalde suppress the slave trade.

Gene Page's score to the cult classic Blacula remains one of the  more unique entries in the blaxploitation canon -- while rooted in the wah-wah funk tradition that is the genre's calling card, the soundtrack's surprising reliance on mood and nuance makes it a distinctly different listening experience. Despite vocal contributions from The Hues Corporation and 21st Centure Ltd, Page's deeply soulful instrumentals are the star of this show, avoiding melodrama and horror movie banalities in favor of sinuous melodies and mellow rhythms that create genuine suspense. In-demand Gene Page has worked closely with a who's who of pop music, including The Supremes, Four Tops, Solomon Burke, Al Wilson, Marvin Gaye, Stanley Turrentine, Barry White, Harry Chapin, Elton John, Streisand, Robert Palmer, Jackson 5, and many more.
